Proposes a ventilator with multiple modes of air filtration, and installs different efficiencies of air filters into the natural and mechanical ventilation ducts respectively. To evaluate the performance of the ventilator, establishes a model in the EnergyPlus with the resistance-flow characteristics and particulate filtration performance in different operating modes. Simulates the ventilation rate and air filtration efficiency of the ventilator and validates with the experimental data. Simulates the indoor air quality and operating energy consumption in a typical apartment utilizing the ventilators in different climatic zones. The results show that meeting the required indoor air quality, the ventilator shortens approximately 70% of the running time at the HEPA filtration mode, compared with the outdoor air blower with the HEPA filtration, and the annual operating energy consumption per unit area is also approximately 30% lower.
